Suskar and her new shoots

Suskar can  be reached by one and half hour walk from nearest road point now. Over half a decade, it has undergone immense transformation. Social transformation can be traced through the head counts of the existing village folks and vacant stone built households. Suskar used to be a winter hub for many with able population working in the fields happily. People from as far as Lauri would come here with their cattle herd and spend the whole dusty season here. Now things have changed its fate, with only few old village folks and few little kids, the village seems dry and vague. The land are kept fellow giving a way for bushes to cover the fields. The transformation and changes all boils down to the rural urban migration.
However, the wiser face of transformation has improved the lives of many.Easing the problem of labour shortage and manpower, the modern development has lifted the lives a few steps higher. With farm roads being near to home, people don't have walk two days to reach Daifam which has for eons served the three geogs as its main business hub. With household electrification, it has improved the lives of people in many ways. The sanitation is being maintained with door step safe drinking tap water. Orange has been a sole single cash crop, now people are into another cash crop. Cardamom has become second cash crop with its fruit being reaped for the first time last summer.
Community forest has generated income for people and the responsibility being shouldered by all. Every household has clean modern toilet with access to water. Diversification of crops and paddy cultivation are being revived and encouraged by agricultural sector. With the help of government and initiatives of the farmers corporate farming has started.
Having witnessed the hardships of Suskar in my early childhood, it gives me a sense of happiness and satisfaction to see developmental phase and economic growth of Suskar. People too see the ray of hope despite deserted households and fallowed fields.
